The Tax-Deferred Annuity Program

The Tax-Deferred Annuity Program screen summarizes the activity in your Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA) Program account. It also enables you to change your TDA contribution rate and how your contributions and investments are allocated.

TDA Balance

This section shows the TRS’ Passport Funds your account is invested in, the number of units in each fund, and the balance in each fund. You can move your investments from one fund (e.g., Fixed Return) into a different fund (e.g., International Equity) over a given period (1, 3, 6, 9, or 12 months) by clicking "Move Funds."

Pending Activity

This section shows pending changes to your TDA account.

"Fund Move" refers to investment changes you elected for your existing TDA account. "Allocation" refers to how money coming into your TDA account should be allocated among your funds. “One-time Rate,” “Ongoing Rate,” and “Future-Ongoing Rate” refer to the timing of rate changes you have made. Click "View" to see the details of your investment changes. Click "Cancel" to stop a Fund Move, Allocation, or One-Time or Future-Ongoing rate change. Click “Change” to change an Ongoing rate.

Fund Allocations

This section shows how the incoming money to your TDA account (including any payments on a TDA loan) is currently allocated among TRS' Passport Funds. To change how your incoming TDA money is allocated, click "Change Allocations."

TDA Contribution Rate

The contribution rate is the percentage of your gross salary that you contribute to your TDA account. This rate can be any number from 1.0% to 99.9%. Your current TDA contribution rate is displayed. To change the contribution rate for your TDA account, click "Change Rate." To learn how your contribution rate will affect your paycheck, click “TDA Calculator.”

TDA Withdrawals/TDA Hardship WIthdrawals

These sections provide "Withdraw Funds" applications that enable eligible members to make a TDA withdrawal. The sections also provide a history of previous withdrawals.

TDA Withdrawals are for members who are retired/in TDA Deferral status, separated from service through resignation or termination, or who have reached age 59½. TDA Hardship Withdrawals are for in-service members under age 59½. These members may apply for a hardship withdrawal of their TDA account balance if they have a sudden and heavy financial need that they are unable to reasonably meet through other financial resources.

(See Eligible Hardships and Required Documentation to confirm eligibility.)

Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) Election

If you are eligible for an RMD, you can view your RMD election by clicking "View RMD Election," or click "Read More" to learn more about filing your RMD election.
